Sowerby Bridge Church Institute Cricket Club

Welcome to SBCI CC

We play in the Enco Halifax Cricket League and are an ECB Clubmark accredited club, affiliated to both the YCB (Yorkshire Cricket Board) and the ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board). We run three senior sides – two Saturday teams and a Sunday team.

We are extremely proud of our junior section and our team of ECB qualified coaches run junior cricket for children from as young as 5 years old. In 2017 we became an All Stars Cricket Centre and have been successfully running programmes for the last 9 years.   In 2026, we will be running four junior sides- Under 9's, Under 11's, Under 13's & Under 15's.

For the 2026 season, we are always keen to welcome new players to our club, regardless of age, gender, or level of experience. If you or your child are interested in joining the club, please click on our contact page to submit a contact form, or contact  one of the below:

He started playing in 1965 and last took to the field in 2017. He was one of the calmest men I have ever seen on the field of play, nothing ruffled him. In his time at the club he was Secretary for 42 years and has recently taken over as Club Chairman.

At 3 we have the clubs most successful “slow” bowler, Ben “Benjos” Summerscales took 773 wickets for the club in 24 seasons. 719 of those came in the 1st team and only one other bowler has more first team wickets than him. He captained the side in 2
